I am a second-year undergraduate at MIT studying electrical engineering and physics with a concentration in music. I am interested in learning more about microfabricated devices as a basis for understanding nanotechnology since nano science turns microtechnology into nanotechnology. Recently, there is more of a need to increase efficiency in microfabricated devices through software, so I am working with the conformable devices group to acquaint myself with the software/firmware engineering aspect of microcontrollers and microprocessors/CPU. My original interests lied in mathematics and physics, where in high school I competed in national, state and local competitions, but I intend now to do research in quantum nanoscience to enhance the efficiency of electronic devices, which from a materials science standpoint conformable devices do while changing how science can be done. Since quantum computation is presently more abstract, being involved in the computer science aspect of microelectromechanical systems is paramount to having a fundamental understanding of how such devices communicate.
