Dr.Hyunsu Park received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University. During his Ph.D., he worked on the development of electrode designs to improve the electrochemical performance of neurostimulating devices and smart self-clearing drainage devices for glaucoma shunts. He identified that Vicseck fractal-shaped electrodes can improve the charge injection limit by more than 74% compared to the circular electrodes, and applied monolayer graphene to prevent metal dissolution for more reliable neurostimulating electrodes. He also developed microscale magnetic actuators to create smart self-clearing drainage devices for removing proteinaceous film disputed on the device surface.

His specific interest lies in developing an implantable neural interface for ultrasound (US) modulation and neural recording that can be remotely re-positioned in vivo in a precise and controlled manner, and then use this platform to administer region-specific US stimulation to deep brain regions.
